One of the best parts of being a school district associated with the military is that students get to meet new people regularly and giving students the chance to make friends from across the globe. Unfortunately, there isn’t always time to share everyone’s diverse backgrounds and cultures with each other. For instance, the Geary County School District has a total of 49 different languages that are spoken by students and their families, with at least seven of those languages spoken at Jefferson Elementary alone. To celebrate diversity such as this, Jefferson hosted a Multicultural Fair on January 26, 2018. This gave students a chance to share similarities and celebrate differences by learning all about different cultures around the world. Parents were invited to bring artifacts, music, and share stories about family cultures. It was a memorable experience for students, staff, and parents alike!
