Thursday, August 31st was an exciting day at Jefferson Elementary. First thing, my 5th grade class walked to the multipurpose room in anticipation of leading a whole school assembly. They knew that not only would they be seeing themselves in a video about our school’s guidelines for success, but they would also be leading the school in a cheer. As they excitedly took their places in front of the other classes, all of the members of the Foundations team supported the students and their efforts in teaching the entire school community. Some members of the team lead a cheer, others explained Second Step, and awards for lunchroom behavior were presented. It felt more like a pep rally than an assembly and the kids had a blast.
This assembly was a big step in building community at our school. The students left excited to be a Jefferson Jaguar. Assemblies are scheduled monthly focusing on our Guidelines for Success:
Perseverance
Respect
Integrity
Motivation
Engage, Encourage, Empower
I hope we will be seeing more unity among our students and a deeper understanding of “Jefferson Jaguars are Primed for Learning”.
