“Families Matter” was the theme for our first parent night of the year. As a staff, we decided to focus on getting to know our students and their parents. The students helped lead their mother and father in
“Morning Meeting” activities that allowed all to get to know one another. Laughter was heard throughout the school as all enjoyed one another’s company. These daily activities are used to get the children prepared for the day and to develop positive relationships with one another.
The teacher then led a question and answer session in case parents had any concerns about homework or classroom procedures.
Students and their families enjoyed snacks as they decorated a cardboard square with pictures, words, and colors to represent their family. All of these pieces will be placed together to create a Jefferson quilt of families and will be displayed outside the front office.
A “Multicultural Fair” is planned later this year and the school is wanting folks to present their heritage. The Jefferson staff looks forward to this celebration to learn more about their families after the holidays.
